“Peter”

This project centers on the collaboration with author Lauren Rose to design the cover for her debut poetry collection, Peter, a poignant exploration of grief and the discovery of life within pain. The collection navigates the complex emotions of loss, ultimately leading to healing and gratitude through Rose's lyrical voice and philosophical reflections on biology and nature.

To visually represent these themes, I created a painting of the Grand Canyon, symbolizing the vastness of both the grief journey and the enduring connection to her beloved uncle. The canyon’s rich colors and expansive landscapes echo the emotional depth of Rose’s work, capturing the interplay of despair and hope that defines her poetry.

The cover serves not only as an introduction to Peter but also as an invitation to readers to engage with the profound human experiences of aliveness, spirituality, and mortality articulated in the collection. This visual narrative aims to resonate deeply with those who understand loss, embodying the transformational power of love that persists through grief.
